Nem fogjuk megsérteni közönségünket azzal, hogy elmondjuk, ki is a magyar jazzélet kiválósága, a Kossuth- és Liszt Ferenc-díjas zongorista SZAKCSI LAKATOS BÉLA. Aki hozzánk jár, az tudja, aki pedig most jön először, az szerencséjére megtudja. Azért annyit elmondhatunk, hogy Chris Potterrel készült élő albumának brit recenziójában 2013-ban egyebek közt ez olvasható: Szakcsi Lakatos Béla a magyar jazz kulcsfigurája és játéka Bartók Béla perkusszív disszonanciájában és az általa mélységben tanulmányozott roma népzene leplezetlen érzelmességében gyökerezik Szólói dörögnek és áttörnek Cecil Taylor birodalmába, majd díszes futamokba torkollnak, nem csekély mccoytyneri érzéssel. Ez mind fellelhető a nyitószám bevezetőjében. De fantasztikusan szvingel és kíséretben tévedhetetlen, furán egyéni és ritmikus.
Bőgőn BARCZA HORVÁTH JÓZSEF, kiváló bőgősöktől hemzsegő hazánknak is egyik legjobbja játszik, aki egyben kiváló komponista és zenekarvezető. Könnyeden és melodikusan kezeli hangszerét, kíséretben és szólistaként egyaránt lenyűgöző.
BALÁZS ELEMÉR dobosként és zeneszerzőként - immár másfél évtizede meghatározó alakja a magyar jazzéletnek, s 1995 óta zenekarvezetőként is működik. Ő sem igazán szorul bemutatásra!
A vendégművész, a kiváló szaxofonos BACSÓ KRISTÓF a Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem jazz tanszaka, a Conservatoire de Paris és a bostoni Berklee College of Music egykori tanítványa, aki (Zana Zoltánnal együtt) első helyen végzett 1999-ben a Bartók Rádió 2. dzsessz tehetségkutató-versenyén. Játszott Európában, Amerikában, Japánban, valamint többek között Eddie Hendersonnal, Patituccival és Jeff Densonnal. Az elmúlt években szenzációs kortárs-zenét produkált saját együttesével, a Triáddal és a zongorista Oláh Kálmán társaságában.
Pianist, BÉLA SZAKCSI LAKATOS immediately caught the attention of the British critics when he played with Arnie Somogyi’s ten-piece band, Improvokation both at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and at Ronnie Scott’s. Alyn Shipton in The Times wrote of “the brilliantly eccentric pianism of Bela Szakcsi Lakatos”, while John Fordham of The Guardian simply stated that “pianist Bela Szakcsi Lakatos is wonderful”. In November 2007 he and his augmented group represented Hungary at the London Jazz Festival. His frenetically successful concert was broadcast live by Radio 3. His recent live album with Chris Potter earned further plaudits from the British critics.. The bass player is one of the grand masters of his instrument, JÓZSEF BARCZA HORVÁTH, a one-time classical player, a great bandleader and composer in his own right whose melodic approach and empathic backing, not to mention his brilliant solo work is a tremendous asset in this setting.
The drums will be looked after by his brother, ELEMÉR BALÁZS who is, arguably, the best drummer in his country. As for him, it’s best to quote what the American guitar ace, Pat Metheny said of him: "Elemer is one of the best drummers around right now, in my opinion. He plays with such musicality and finesse and has the ability to listen inside each musical moment with the kind of spontaneous decision making that allows everyone that plays with him to sound their best. He also has a wonderful touch on the instrument - I always enjoy the chance to play with him and to hear him."
The brilliant saxophonist, KRISTÓF BACSÓ is a graduate of the Ferenc Liszt Academy, of the Conservatoire de Paris and of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has toured Europe, the States and Japan, has played with John Pattitucci, Eddie Henderson and Jeff Denson. Kristóf was part of the Anglo-Hungarian Septet co-led by Gerard Presencer and Kálmán Oláh at the 2008 London Jazz Festival. Helen Mayhew called their gig the highlight of the whole festival. He plays in a number of top bands in Hungary and his debut album was one of the sensations of 2009. Kristóf is one of the most original contemporary players on the scene, leader of the three-piece Triad of international reputation and a prolific composer.
