Az énekesnő SARA DOWLING a brit jazzvilág új csillaga. Repertoárjának oroszlánrészét a Nagy Amerikai Daloskönyvből meríti, példaképei Sarah Vaughan és Betty Carter, de aki csak hallotta és szerződtette mind tudja, hogy Sara különlegesen sajátos színt hoz minden előadásán, valami meghatározhatatlanul újszerűt és frisset. London legjobb klubjaiban, a Ronnie Scottsban, a 606-ban és a Cinnamonban is rendszeresen hallható, a közönség imádja. Az Ománban ír és jordániai szülők frigyéből született énekesnő hivatásos csellistaként kezdte pályafutását, ami az átlagnál sokoldalúbbá tette. Nagy hangterjedelme és hihetetlen muzikalitása élménnyé teszi minden koncertjét. A világhírű trombitás, Guy Barker mondta róla: “A hangjában megvan minden tulajdonság, amely a nagy énekesek sajátja.” A Jazz Views kritikusa szerint “Sara most már elementáris erőt képvisel az Egyesült Királyság jazzvilágában. Kétségkívül nagy jövő áll előtte.
Sara partnere Londonban is gyakran a most már ott élő, de Európa-szerte fellépő, fenomenális magyar zongorista, GAYER MÁTYÁS. Matyi nemzedékének egyik legszédületesebb tehetsége. A közönséget és zenésztársait egyaránt lenyűgözi, nem is annyira egyébként fantasztikus technikájával, hanem azzal az eredetiséggel, amelyekkel a legismertebb standardeket is a magáévá varázsolja. Még nem is végzett az akadémián, amikor az egyik jónevű lemezvállalat tehetségkutatója megjegyezte: “Nem szeretek ilyet mondani, de ez a fiú potenciális világsztár.” Azóta Matyi kétszer is döntős lett a Montreux Nemzetközi Jazz Fesztivál szóló zongora vetélkedőjén. Monty Alexander kiemelkedőnek találta a játékát. Londonban a Ronnie Scotts Upstairs állandó fellépője, de játszott már jóformán a brit főváros minden rangos klubjában, így többször a 606-ban is. Élvonalbeli jazz-zenészek hívják meg rendszeresen, mint Matt Fishwick, Renato D’Aiello, Arnie Somogyi, Winston Clifford, Tony Kofi vagy Steve Brown.

SARA DOWLING is a jazz singer who is deeply inspired by the repertoire of the classic American songbook, her most important influences are Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter. And yet, as the clubs who have been booking her regularly in and over the past couple of years – Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 and the Cinnamon Club – have spotted, there really is something different, special and fresh about her. And that she makes audiences want to come back to hear her again. It is not her heritage, although that is unusual: she was born in Muscat / Oman with Jordanian and Irish parents. Nor is it her first career: as a professional cellist. So what is it? First, the fabulous fearlessness with which she approaches the act of singing. And the burning conviction, the irresistible communicative power and jaw-dropping musicality she brings to it. She trusts her voice and its range of timbre and her ability both to convey the emotion of very slow ballads - or to bring joy as she rip-roars and scats through faster songs. And above all she makes a wonderful connection both to the music and to the audience. Sara’s partner in this Hungarian venture and quite often in London is the phenomenal young Hungarian pianist, MÁTYÁS GAYER who has now relocated from Austria to the UK. He was two years running a finalist at the Montreux International Jazz Festival’s solo piano competition. Mátyás has played with many of the jazz’s greats such as Jesse Davis, Jim Rotondi, Grant Stewart, Luis Bonilla, Don Menza, Dusko Goykovich and the like. Mátyás has performed in the best jazz clubs of many countries including France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia, Slovakia, Macedonia and Latvia. Nowadays he makes regular appearances at Ronnie Scotts Upstairs as well as the 606 and other iconic jazz clubs in the British capital.
