A BJC BIG BAND a Budapest Jazz Club házi zenekara, amely a fiatal és a középső jazz nemzedék legjobbjait tömöríti a trombitás Csizmadia Dávid irányítása alatt. Repertoárjuk a nagy big band örökzöldekből és Magyarországon alig vagy egyáltalán nem ismert szerzeményekből áll. Általában olyan vendégművészeket hívnak meg, akik még nem játszottak magyar nagyzenekarral. A nemrég összeállt zenekar máris erős egyéni karakterrel, széles dinamikai skálával és virtuóz technikával rendelkezik.
ALISTAIR WHITE-ot 1997-ben szavazták meg Nagy-Britanniában az Év Fiatal Jazz zenészének. 2000-ben és 2001-ben is a BBC jazz műsorvezetői őt minősítették az év legjobb harsonásának. Alistair harsonán, eufóniumon és basszus harsonán játszik. Jelenleg tagja a Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, valamint az Incognito és a Beautiful zenekarnak. Játszott már Quincy Jones-szal, Maceo Parkerrel, Jamie Cullummal, a Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestrával, John Dankworth-sel, Cleo Laine-nel, Tony Bennettel, Georgie Fame-mel, James Morrisonnal – és a lista elég hosszú. Amikor duettezett a brit harsonás király Mark Nightingale-lel, egy kritikus a nagy Kai Winding és J.J. Johnson játékához hasonlította a teljesítményüket.
TREVOR MIRES 14 éve van már London zenei szcénájának az élvonalában. Roppant sokoldalú zenész, aki – többek közt – George Bensonnal és a Sam Rivers Big Banddel játszott és készített lemezt, sőt az utóbbi minőségben alkalmazta őt Pat Metheny, Toots Thielemans és David Sanborn is. Ugyanakkor tagja volt és turnézott a világhírű Jamiroqui jazzfunk formációval, valamint az Incognitóval is. Nemrég turnézott a Randy Brecker’s European Big Banddel, de felvételt készített a Radioheaddel, Alicia Keys-szel és Beyoncével is. Pillanatnyilag Tom Jones hangszerelője és harsonása is.

The Budapest Jazz Club’s in-house big band enlists some of Hungary’s best musicians from both the young and the middle generation under the directorship of trumpeter Dávid Csizmadia. Their repertoire comprises some of the great big band standards, as well as compositions that are little known or rarely performed in Hungary. They also feature soloists at their concerts who have not performed with a big band in Hungary before. Young as the band is, they boast an individual character, marked by a broad dynamic range, virtuosity, and authentic sound.
This time they feature two fantastic British trombone players.
ALISTAIR WHITE, was Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 1997; he was also BBC Best Trombonist 2000 and 2001. He plays trombone, euphonium and bass trombone; he is currently the trombonist in the bands of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Incognito and Beautiful: The Carole King West End Musical. He has also played with artists such as: Quincy Jones, Maceo Parker, Jamie Cullum, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Tony Bennett, James Morrison, Georgie Fame and the list goes on. His duets with Mark Nightingale elicited critical comments comparing the two to the great Kai Winding- J.J. Johnson front-line.
TREVOR MIRES has been at the forefront of the London music scene for the last fourteen years. His performing credits are wide ranging. He has performed with, among others, George Benson, recorded and toured with multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, toured with Sam Rivers Big Band, Michel Le Grand, and recorded with Pat Metheny, Toots Theilmans and David Sanborn. Trevor was a member of jazzfunk band Jamiroquai, and Incognito, recording and touring with both for a number of years. Maintaining a healthy balance between commercial and more creative projects, recording in studios for TV and film, Trevor is currently Trombonist/arranger for Sir Tom Jones, and recently toured with Randy Brecker's European Big Band, as well as recording with Radiohead, and performing with the likes of Alicia Keys, Beyonce, and recording and performing with Mark Ronson.
